AKA(left) or Cassper Nyovest(right) whose throne is it? image source |
What’s really good everybody!? OK enough with the formalities, let’s get to it.
Picture a bunch of pastors preaching to
global congregations...noble is not? Yeah I think so too.
Now let’s take it an inch deeper, the
pastors (modern rappers), are preaching an extremely construed and horribly
mutated version of the gospel (hip hop music), some of yawl brighter sparks out
there know exactly what I mean.
A wise old timer once said ignorance is
bliss only to the ignorant. You see once upon a real and modest time hip hop
was about expression of belief and expression of intellect, where rappers would
shower the audiences with moving and uplifting lyrics... you know what I mean?
EVERY TRACK carried a message! And boy oh boy! Don’t get me started on the
beats that had us nodding and bobbing our heads like we had defective neck
muscles.
I’m only 22 years old but damn those were
the days.

True hip hop has
impeccable lyricism, tactful word play and subtle but griping skull splitting
punchlines here and there. Both AKA and Nyovest are more than average but far
from cream of the crop. they are excellent entertainers, awesome party music
makers too, take AKA's Run Jozi and Cassper's gusheshe tracks and you have hits
that turn up any party...but who ever said hip hop was just for parties, what
about the hip hop heads out there who see it as more than genre but as a
culture, then you see that the two kings of SA rap aren't that royal at all. Don’t
get me wrong, I do and will still jam to their music I just refuse to neglect
what true hip hop is and crown the wrong heir to its throne and that's that! Well
this is JayVision STAY JayPinionated, peace
Hip Hop!
I couldn't agree with you more, now im not saying I'm a hardcore hip hop head because that is far from true but I do still appreciate a good song. The lyrics that made you go crazy because of the meaning even google it if you had to but now its all about making hit records. I feel like Cassper and AKA should change their genres from hip hop to pop since they so good at that

DeleteTrue, the hip hop culture has now taken a total spin,i mean all we hearing now is people dissing each other on tracks and telling us how they bought new cars. "i just bought a 650I" that was one line on casspers song, yes nice track to jam to,but really.
ReplyDeleteagreed, when did hip hop become so materialistic?

DeleteAs a hip hop head yourself, do u think public relation stunt in a form of "BEEF" is important to get exposure?
ReplyDeleteyes, however, if your skill is good enough who needs fake beef?

DeleteCasper Nyovest is overrated 2014 was his year great but I don't think he will sustain or keep up, AKA has been consistent ever since and he is still going to grow we haven't seen enough of him yet #nowcongragulatehim #alleyesonhim
ReplyDeletesomeone sounds love struck :-)
DeleteWhatever the beef was about it worked for both of them . Collaborations and all those awards have done all the talking for them
ReplyDeleteI agree, but as a rapper your skill should speak for you, not some seemingly staged "beef"
DeleteI totally agree with you boi. We need real hip hop. We need a voice for the voiceless
ReplyDeletecouldn't have said it better myself if i was a pro-speaker
