a little of Mzansis finest...

AKA(left) or Cassper Nyovest(right) whose throne is it?

What’s really good everybody!? OK enough with the formalities, let’s get to it.

Picture a bunch of pastors preaching to global congregations...noble is not? Yeah I think so too.
Now let’s take it an inch deeper, the pastors (modern rappers), are preaching an extremely construed and horribly mutated version of the gospel (hip hop music), some of yawl brighter sparks out there know exactly what I mean.
A wise old timer once said ignorance is bliss only to the ignorant. You see once upon a real and modest time hip hop was about expression of belief and expression of intellect, where rappers would shower the audiences with moving and uplifting lyrics... you know what I mean? EVERY TRACK carried a message! And boy oh boy! Don’t get me started on the beats that had us nodding and bobbing our heads like we had defective neck muscles.
I’m only 22 years old but damn those were the days.

In this modern age of crap music, oops I meant rap music, all we hear is "this car, that hoe and a trillion dollars that were spent in a club" and I’m thinking WTF for lack of a better reaction. But then of course that's just a broad generalized conception of the modern art. Now let’s narrow it down to local, genuine home-grown hip hop and its opinion leaders, namely AKA the tongue lasher with an attitude and CassperNyovest, self-proclaimed "the best, the best, the best!” these two are without a doubt the two faces of South African hip hop, but in light of recent events and in true nature of The JayPinionated nation, yes they are hardworking, yes they are acting like a couple of attention thirsty parasites, yes they make great music and no they are not the best, far from it in fact.

True hip hop has impeccable lyricism, tactful word play and subtle but griping skull splitting punchlines here and there. Both AKA and Nyovest are more than average but far from cream of the crop. they are excellent entertainers, awesome party music makers too, take AKA's Run Jozi and Cassper's gusheshe tracks and you have hits that turn up any party...but who ever said hip hop was just for parties, what about the hip hop heads out there who see it as more than genre but as a culture, then you see that the two kings of SA rap aren't that royal at all. Don’t get me wrong, I do and will still jam to their music I just refuse to neglect what true hip hop is and crown the wrong heir to its throne and that's that! Well this is JayVision STAY JayPinionated, peace  Hip Hop!
